Alarmy alternatives without math missions

Alarmy works. People still leave it, usually for the same reason: arithmetic before consciousness is a miserable start to a day. Four other paths reach the same place.

Path 1: keep missions, change the mission

Alarmy already has photo, QR code, memory game, shaking and squats besides math, and the photo mission is the effective one anyway since it walks you to a registered place. Switching mission type inside the app you own costs nothing.

AlarmK does the same idea on the modern iOS alarm path. On Android, QRAlarm does one thing well: scan a code to stop the alarm. Tape it to the coffee machine.

Path 2: move the off switch off the phone

WakeUpBroo deletes snooze and dismiss. The stop code rotates on their website every five minutes, so half-asleep tapping cannot end it. iPhone only, free with an optional Pro tier. No math, considerably harsher.

Path 3: make the alarm worth staying in

Alarmesque has no mission. It writes a new scene every morning, speaks it in a voice you chose, puts your name in it, and lets you hold a button and talk back on the paid tiers. This works on people who wake and then lose twenty minutes. It does nothing for people who dismiss alarms without waking.

Path 4: let the clock pick the moment

Sleep Cycle wakes you inside a light-sleep window, which removes the fight for some people. Weak if you sleep through everything, good if the problem is grogginess.

Path 5: the free one

Apple Clock with the phone across the room beats most paid apps. Try it for a week before buying anything.

Pick by what actually goes wrong

  • You turn alarms off in your sleep: AlarmK, or WakeUpBroo if missions stopped working on you.
  • You wake, then stall in bed: Alarmesque.
  • You wake groggy at the wrong moment: Sleep Cycle.
  • You never tested the phone-across-the-room thing: do that first.
